First lets look at the Science portion of that word.
Here in the west, we have grown up in a world dominated by Science and its teachings. But what exactly is Science?
The word science comes from the Latin “scientia,” meaning knowledge.
But how do we define science? According to Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, the definition of science is
knowledge attained through study or practice, or knowledge covering general truths of the operation of general laws, esp. as obtained and tested through scientific method [and] concerned with the physical world.
What does that really mean? Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge. This system uses observation and experimentation to describe and explain natural phenomena.
The term science also refers to the organized body of knowledge people have gained using that system. Less formally, the word science often describes any systematic field of study or the knowledge gained from it.
However, while the knowledge gained through science is or ought to be objective, scientists are just as susceptible to the pressures of ideology, funding, peers, etc as anyone.
And like all human beings, they may lack objectivity about their test results and therefore what they choose to believe the results of their experiments prove or disprove.
When scientists are pressured by outside forces or their biases come into play , it is no longer science. Being a scientist does not make everything they do science, just as being Christian does not mean everything someone does is Christian-like.
The true root and strength of science lies in its objectivity.
As Einstein put it: “A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.”
Now for the Meta portion, which is short for Metaphysical.
The Metaphysical has largely been ignored by Science, and considered a fringe belief system or philosophy at best.
Derived from the Greek meta ta physika (“after the things of nature”);
referring to an idea, doctrine, or posited reality outside of human sense perception.
In modern philosophical terminology, metaphysics refers to the studies of what cannot be reached through objective studies of material reality. Metaphysical studies generally seek to explain inherent or universal elements of reality which are not easily discovered or experienced in our everyday life.
As such, it is concerned with explaining the features of reality that exist beyond the physical world and our immediate senses. Angels, ghosts, premonitions, precognition, psychic abilities, healing touch, Feng Shui, and a host of others are all encompassed by the Metaphysical realm.
Metaphysical ideas, because they are based on the direct experience with material reality by the nonobjective individual, are often in conflict with the modern sciences. The problem of validating metaphysical claims is most readily seen in all of the “proofs” for the existence of God.
Like trying to prove the existence of a “soul” or “spirit” in the human, attempts to scientifically prove the existence of God and other nonobjective, nonhuman realities is seemingly impossible.
The difficulty arises out of the attempt to scientifically study and objectify something which, by its very nature, cannot become an object of our scientific studies.
This reigning belief that everything can be explained scientifically in terms of natural causes – referred to as naturalism – compels many to think that only what is seen or sensed, only what can be hypothesized and tested can be true, and therefore, meaningful to us as humans.
Yet throughout the ages we find healers, wise men, wise women, spiritual leaders, intuitives, psychics and others that have knowledge beyond what science can explain.
History is filled with the unexplainable, from visits from Angels to near death experiences, mankind walks in a world much larger than his five physical senses can perceive.
But the same biases apply to those in the Metaphysical community. Being human, they are just as susceptible to all the same forces as the Scientific community.
As there is bad “Junk” science out there, with its own agenda, so to with metaphysics practitioners. Both hold rigid core beliefs, unable to accept that which disagrees with their world view.
Science and Metaphysics no longer holds mankind captive to its absolute authority. As religious dogma has fallen to new discoveries, so has science begun to have its own difficulties.
Continual developments in our understanding of the human thought process reveals that science and metaphysics alone cannot solely be relied upon to explain reality, for the human mind cannot be seen as simply a mirror of the natural world.
For example, since the act of scientific observation itself tends to produce the reality it hopes to explain, the so-called “truths” of science cannot be considered as final or objective.
This fact manifests itself over and over again, as scientific and metaphysic truths and laws continue to break down or yield to new and better explanations of reality.
What becomes apparent, therefore, is that the process of human interpretation in the sciences and metaphysics, as elsewhere, is both variable and relative to the observer’s viewpoint.
There is out there good science and scientists, with no agenda other than discovery, as well as metaphysical masters that encompass all as valid and worth exploring. The merging of the two has already begun, as both Science and Metaphysics are at the crossroads of Resonance.
Meta-Science is the study of the seen and unseen, and the reality that is. Resonance is its foundation. The universe is a symphony of vibrational energy, awash in electromagnetic frequencies. Matter is organized by waveforms and frequencies. Vibrational energy, waveforms and frequencies are all just different forms of knowledge and information.
We are surrounded and are made up of Resonant frequencies. When one attunes to a specific frequency, one is able to access all the information being transmitted therein. Like tuning into a radio station, all of its information is contained in its broadcast signal. But if you are off by one step above or below it, the information will be inaccessible to you.
Meta-Science presents a new paradigm, where information and knowledge are accessed at the deepest levels. Like stepping into a stream, its knowledge is in constant motion, each step opening new wonders of information.
Meta-Science reveals to us that real knowledge is ever present in the now, a river of infromation to be accessed as needed.
There is a old saying,
You can never step into the same river twice; for new waters are always flowing.
It is the same for information, knowledge and wisdom. Information is always flowing, knowledge is always flowing, wisdom is always flowing, as is life.
